Each month, our nonviolence group meets to talk through the principles, steps, or commandments of nonviolence as stated by MLK. This grounds whatever campaign we’re doing in a Christ-centered discipleship model.

Our current campaign is to pursue no more homicides in New Haven. We have two main approaches to that goal: 1) we celebrate every month that there are no homicides in our city or we mourn lives lost through a liturgy for homicide that we do the last Saturday of the month and 2) we pursue creative action around a few policy goals to end homicides in New Haven. We are also building towards a campaign against Avelo, an airline operating of out Tweed-New Haven airport that has a contract with the Department of Homeland Security for deportation flights. In this era of no due process and no good process for immigrants, our dollars to Avelo support a key link in the chaotic and cruel practice of swiftly removing people from their communities and separating families without a real opportunity to plead their case.
