We Have Seen the Lord

In the days after the first Easter, John records several striking encounters with the risen Lord, both with women in his inner circle and with different gatherings of his disciples. In each encounter, Jesus speaks words fitting to each person he reveals himself to – words of comfort, of peace, of faith, and of restoration – and his words transform their lives, and ours, as they continue to echo through the ages. Join us over the next four weeks as we consider these encounters in a new post-Easter, 4-week series.

As we end our series, We Have Seen the Lord, it is apparent that these resurrection accounts are more than just seeing Jesus alive with one's own eyes. People see Jesus and experience peace, comfort, and faith. As we turn to John 21, Peter sees Jesus as alive and as one who comes to restore in the face of past mistakes. When we fail, we often expect scolding and not fellowship. We can only imagine what kind of treatment Peter expected from Jesus after betraying him three times. Instead of shame, guilt, or punishment, Jesus offers abundance and restoration. Do we need that kind of exchange in our lives? Come Sunday to hear more.
